I have appointed you [Ezekiel] as a watchman to the house of Israel; and when you hear a word from my mouth you must warn them from me
– Eze 33:7
The work of the watchmen would includes to share are warning when an upcoming danger is coming. If a person would not listen to the warning it would be his or her own responsibility when losing life (Eze 33:1-5).
The one listening however “his life would have been saved” (Eze 33:5).
Jehovah appoints Hesekiel (and also Jeremiah in Jer 6:17) as a “watchman” who would share a warning from Jehovah.
